SENSORIAMENTO REMOTO

Spatial variability of soil physical parameters and spectral response of irrigated crop beans, in aerial images
Abstract in English
This work was made with the following objectives: (a) to study, in the experimental area, the spatial variability of texture and matric potential of soil water and; (b) to evaluate the feasibility to use aerial photographs in digital format for irrigation management, by the spectral response of pIants caused by the spatial distribution of some soil parameters. It was uti1ized a bean crop (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), irrigated by center pivot. The experiment was carried out in the experimental area of the Department of Agriculture of ESALQIUSP, in Piracicaba (SP, Brazil) and the planting was made in March 26, 1997. One hundred and eighty eight tensiometers were installed in an irregular grid at depth of 0.20m in the lines of planting and between pIants. Soil samples was obtained in each point of tensiometer (0.20m apart) at the same depth, for granulometric analysis. Four flying missions were made using an small airplane at 45, 52, 60 and 85 days after planting. Tensiometers reading were made at the same time. The physical soil parameters were analyzed by the classic or Fisher statistic; exploratory data analysis for defining outliers data and the regionaIized variables theory. The aerial photos were transformed into digital format through an HP ScanJet-4c scanner. Using the Idrisi software (v.1) a geometric corrections was performed by the nearest neighbor method as well as a digital cIassification utilizing an unsupervised method (cluster analysis). It was found spatial structure for clay, sand and matric potential and the spherical model was fitted for the texture and the exponential model was modal for the matric potential. There was no linear correlation between soil parameters and the pixels values. Regionalized variables were used with the pixels values and it was found structure dependence of the pIants spectral responses
