Usage of lysimeter devices for the determination of reference evapotranspiration
Abstract in English
The evapotranspiration rate quantification is essential to solve a great number of agricultural problems like the design and management of irrigation systems, water balance, simulations of cultural development and hydrologic studies. The evapotranspiration can be obtained through different ways: direct measurements or estimated by using theoretical formulas. This work has the intention of evaluating different lysimeter devices to determine the evapotranspiration (Eto). Three kinds of lysimeter were used (weighing lysimeter, drainage lysimeter and water-table lysimeter). The model of Penman-Monteith and the pan class "A" were also used to obtain the estimation of the evapotranspiration in the period. Eto values obtained by the weighing lysimeter (pattern) were correlated with estimated values and the other lysimeters values. The weighing lysimeter presented a good correlation with the values estimated by the model of Penman-Monteith. The weighing lysimeter proved to be feasible to determine the evapotranspiration for a integration period less than 1 hour (r2 = 0,80). Both the drainage lysimeter and water-table lysimeter showed to be unfeasible to determine daily values of Eto. These devices also presented better function for a calculus period of 5 days. The total evapotranspiration were overestimated in 18% by the drainage lysimeter and in 11% by the water-table lysimeter during the period considered. The pan class "A" method underestimated in 36% the total evapotranspiration, showing low correlation with the weighing lysimeter (r2 = 0,005).
