Determination of the economical damage level caused by the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Koch, 1836) Boudreaux & Dosse, 1963 (Acarina, Tetranychidae) on drybeans cv. Carioca
Abstract in English
The present work was carried out with the purpose of studying the damages caused by the two - spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae (Koch, 1836) Boudreaux & Dosse, 1963 (Acarina, Tetranychidae), on dry-beans cv. Carioca in the 2 planting periods, widely known as "feijão das águas" (harvest at rainy season) and "feijão da seca" (harvest at dry season). Two kinds of trials have been performed field level: one with the variation of the infestation period (V I P) and another with the variation of the number of mites (V N M). A preliminary experiment was conducted in green house in order to determine the infestation parameters used on the above mentioned field trials. The critical period to the initial attack of the two-spotted mite (60 females/plant) for the bean crop was the interval of its development from 15 to 45 days while infestations occurring a little before the harvest did not cause significant reduction in the yield. The control level was 13.3 females/plant when it has 3 trifoliate leaves (9 foliates) or is about 25 days old
