No presente trabalho, estudou-se o emprego de substâncias esterilizantes em diversas concentrações, sobre as fases larval, pupal e adulta de Diatraea saccharalis (Fabricius, 1794) (Lepidoptera-Pyralidae). Pesquisou-se também, a nível de campo, a eficiência do produto Abamectin sobre a fase larval da broca da cana além do efeito do citado produto sobre o adulto do parasitóide Apanteles flavipes (Cameron, 1891) (Hymenoptera-Braconidae). Pelo método de próbitos foi estabelecida para a fase larval de D. saccharalis a DL50 (dose letal 50) e o TL50 (tempo letal 50) ocasionado pelas diversas substâncias em várias concentrações. As DL50 foram de 1,8030; 0,0096 e 0,0010 ppm para os produtos Diflubenzuron, Chlorfluaruzon e Abamectin, respectivamente. Verificou-se que a mortalidade das lagartas antes de 20 dias ocorrem com os produtos Difluzenzuron a 4,0; 10,0 e 14,0 ppm; Chlorfluaruzon a 1,0 ppm e Abamectin 8xl0-3 ppm com TL50 aos 15,81; 15,18; 11,22; 8,25 e 15,91 dias, respectivamente. O Abamectin testado na dosagem de 8xl0-4 ppm não mostrou efeito prejudicial às lagartas. As substâncias esterilizantes fornecidas às lagartas através de dieta artificial não afetaram a fertilidade ou a fecundidade dos adultos resultantes. No tratamento realizado a partir da fase pupal, observou-se que o Abamectin na dosagem de 2,5 x 10-5% foi o que apresentou os melhores resultados com 100% de esterilidade nos adultos resultantes. Eficiências menores foram obtidas nos tratamentos com Chlorfluazuron 2,2% e Diflubenzuron 12% que provocaram 57,14 e 33,33% de esterilidade respectivamente. A viabilidade das pupas tratadas diminuiu com o aumento das concentrações das substâncias testadas. O fornecimento do alimento a indivíduos adultos contendo diversas concentrações das substâncias esterilizantes provocou reduções na fertilidade, menores, às obtidas no tratamento das pupas. O produto Abamectin quando pulverizado no campo mostrou eficiência de controle larval de até 87,87%; o mesmo produto foi muito tóxico quando aplicado sobre os adultos de A. flavipes em condições de laboratório.

Effects of the chemosterililant substances on the sugar cane borer Diatraea saccharalis (Fabricius, 1794) (Lepidoptera-Pyralidae)

This research deals with the use of chemosterilant substances, at various concentrations, on the larval, pupal and adult stages of Diatraea saccharalis (Fabricius, 1794) (Lepidoptera, Pyralidae). It was also investigated, in the field, the efficiency of Abamectin on the larval stage of the sugarcane borer and the effect of such product on the adult of the parasitoid Apanteles flavipes (Cameron, 1891) (Hymenoptera, Braconidae). The DL50 and TL50 of the several substances at different concentrations for the larval stage of D. saccharalis were determined by the probit method. The DL50 values were 1.8030, 0.0096, and 0.0010 ppm for the products Diflubenzuron, Chlorfluazuron, and Abamectin, respectively. It was observed that the mortality of the larvae before 20 days was due to the products: Diflubenzuron at 4.0, 10.0, and 14.0 ppm; Chlorfluazuron at 1.0 ppm and Abamectin 8x10-3, with TL50 values at 15.81; 15.18; 11.22; 8.25 and 15.91 days, respectively. Abamectin at 8x10-4 ppm did not show harmful effect to the larvae. The chemosterilant substances present in the artificial diets of the larvae did not affect fertility or fecundity of the emerging adults. The better results were observed when the pupal stage was treated with Abamectin at 2.5x10-5% and the emerging adults presented 100% of sterility. Lower efficiencies were obtained with Chlorfluazuron 2.2% and Diflubenzuron 12% which caused 57.14 and 33.33% of sterility, respectively. The viability of the treated pupae decreased with the increase of the concentration of the substances tested. The supply of food containing several concentrations of the sterilizing substances to the adults promoted reductions in the fertility, although lower to those obtained in the treatment pupae. The product Abamectin when sprayed in the on the field showed efficiency of larval control up to 87.87%, however it was too toxic when applied on the adults of A. flavipes in laboratory conditions.
