VINHAÇA

Environmental impact of the vinasse on the entomofauna associated to the sugar cane crop
Abstract in English
The environmental impact or the vinasse on the entomofauna associated to the sugar crop was evaluated by surveying the insects with light traps, Malaise traps pitfall traps and tray traps. The traps were set in two areas located in the municipalities or Araras and Santa Bárbara D'Oeste, State or São Paulo, Brazil, from September 1988 to October 1989. The predominant taxons were selected through faunistic analysis to study the environmental impact through the physiographical and diversity indices, and the quotient and percentage of similarity, statistically analysed by the non parametric test or Wilcoxon. The results were as follows: the population of Aphodius sp. (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae), was influenced by the vinasse; samples obtained with light traps provided data which were sufficient for the study or the environmental impact; the vinasse present in the were of sacrifice favored the entomofauna; both areas are rich in insect species and presented medium similarity; the faunistic analysis was a valuable technique to study environmental impact on the entomofauna.
