Abstract in English
his paper deals with the effect of two genotypes of tomato (Lycopersicon hirsutum f glabratum Mull PI 134417 and L. esculentum Mill cv. Santa Clara) associated to the entomopathogens B. thuringiensis (Bt) and B. bassiana (Bb) on the development of leafininer T absoluta. At first the development of the insects was evaluated on the two genotypes, in laboratory (dishes and vials) and in greenhouse (potted plants). It was observed that plastic dishes were suitable to study the effects of the genotypes on the leafininer. Toe number of larval instars and the mean period (time) necessary for the caterpillars to reach each instar, when fed with leaves of the two tomato species, were evaluated at 26 and 30ºC and four instars were observed in all treatments. Toe mean period (time) to reach each instar was longer on the genotype PI 134417. For newly hatched caterpillars the LC50 of Bt ( 1.84x106 spores/ ml) and Bb 1.0x107 conidia/ml of suspension) were estimated. The effect of the genotypes associated to the entomopathogens on the genotype PI 134417 does affect the development and the survival of the leafininer and that the entomopathogens Bt and Bb, sprayed on the leaves of the cultivar Santa Clara and PI 134417 caused larval mortality in all instars. Depend on the instar in which the caterpillars are fed with treated leaves a synergistic or additive effect of the factors are observed.
