Influence of aldicarb and carbofuran on soybean Glycine max L. Merrill
Abstract in English
This research deals with the evaluation of the effect of aldicarb and carbofuran on soybean plants free from the known insect pests. Two experiments were set in greenhouse and six in field conditions with the cultivar ?Dourados?. The results were as follows: aldicarb and carbofuran did not affect plant emergence; aldicarb affected stem diameter, plant height, root weight, number of pods per plant, length of the plant cycle (days), and grain yield; the diameter of the stems from plants treated with aldicarb were 3.9% and 4.4% in average higher than those of the check and carbofuran treated plants respectively; the height of the plants treated with aldicarb was higher than that of the check and carbofuran treated plants and the mean increment was 13.2 mm and 14.1 mm, respectively, corresponding to 1.8% and 1. 9%; the weight of the roots from plants treated with aldicarb has shown a tendency to be higher than that of the check and carbofuran treated plants; the number of nodules of Bradyrhizobium japonicum, number of seeds per pod and weight of 100 seeds were not influenced by aldicarb and carbofuran; the number of pods per plant treated with aldicarb was higher than that of the check and carbofuran treated plants; the length of the total cycle (days) was higher when the plants were treated with aldicarb; grain yield (production) was slightly higher from plants treated with aldicarb.
