Abstract in English
ln the last years the pest P. operculella (Zeller, 1873) has became one of the serious problems in the tomato culture in many regions of the world. Due to the lack of informations about this insect in this solanacea the following research was carried out. The main subject of this paper was: biology, hazzard stimate and chemical control of the insects in culture. tomato it had attained one complete evolutive cycle of the pest in average of 37.2 days, the larval stage had been kept 12 days with 4 intars ; in laboratory the pupal stage lasted 8 days. The adults had an average longevity of 11 days for males and 12 days for females, which laid 262 eggs covering 7 layings. The eggs hatched in 3 days. Laboratory essays were carried out using different substratum for laying in the following crescent order of preference: potato and tornato leaves, tuber extract of potato at 5% and tomato extract at 20%, cheesedoth rnoisted with destilled water and eggplant leaf. The production was affected by the worrn in blossoming time. Decamethrin provided good results as laying repellent. Many insecticides were used to control potato, moth, pyrethroid and phosphorous being the most efficient. The main residual power was showed by Fenthion (Lebaycid) 50 CE, Decamethrin (Decis NH) 2.5 CE and Azinphos ethyl (Gusathión) 50 CE. The egg viability was not affected by insecticides in terms of age. The best ovicide tested was Azinphos ethyl 50 CE.
