Answers from eucalyptus grandis x eucalyptus urophylla clones to potassium doses in vitro
Abstract in English
The aim of this study was evaluate the effect of potassium in the visual symptomatology, production of dry matter, in the nutrient contents of three clones Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla cultivated in vitro. Shoots with about 10 mg of dry matter were used as source of explants. The experiments were carried out in the multiplication phase. The explants were cultivated in modified JADS-based medium (CORREIA, 1993) with different doses of potassium, supplemented with 0.5 mg.L-1 BAP, 0.1 mg.L-1 IAA, 3 % (w/v) sucrose and 0.5 (w/v) agar, using KH2PO4, NH4H2PO4 e KCl as source of potassium. The visual aspects of explants were evaluated at 10 days each and the chemical analysis after 21 days. Dose of 1.375 mM of potassium in the culture medium clorosis appered at the extremities of the oldest leaves of the clone A. Doses 1.375 mM, 2.75 mM and 5.5 mM of potassium in the culture medium caused redness appearance in the leaves and stem in clone B and leaves clorotic and redness appearance at the marginal leaves the clone C. The clone B of Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla was the genetic material that responded to the potassium increasing in the culture medium in relation the dry material production. In all clones the N and P contents in the leaves negatively affected with potassium supply in the culture medium. The contents of Mg and Z decreased with the K supply in the culture medium. The total content N, S and Z were also undergo a negative effect with of doses in the culture medium. In the three clones, the highest efficiency of potassium utilization was the dose 1.375 mM in the culture
