Influence of different concentration of calcium on the homeostasis of shoots of Eucalyptus grandis Hill (ex Maiden) submitted to different temperatures in vitro
Abstract in English
This work was carried out to evaluate the influence of different Calcium concentrations on the homeostasis of shoots of Eucalyptus grandis Hill ( ex Maiden) submitted to different temperatures in vitro. The Calcium concentrations, added to the JADS medium, were: 0,0; 2,5; 5,0 and 10,0 mmol. The temperatures were: 5°C; 15°C;25°C; 35°C and 45°C. The control temperature was established as being 25°C.Physiological parameters such as: Total Soluble Sugars; Proline Concentration and Relative Rate Growth were evaluated to verify the effects of the thermal stress on the material homeostasis capacity. The results indicated that Calcium concentrations affected the responses of shoots submitted to high and low temperatures. ln general, the shoots submitted to the lower temperatures required more Calcium than those submitted to the higher ones for the maintenance of their homeostasis.
