Este estudo foi realizado para investigar o mais fundo possível o universo das empresas que utilizam os modelos de corporate venturing para a busca de novos negócios no Brasil. Foram entrevistados executivos de empresas brasileiras e estrangeiras, com experiências consideradas bem sucedidas e experiências mal sucedidas. O estudo desses casos, sob a luz de pesquisas realizadas mundialmente com os mesmos critérios, permitiu um maior entendimento dos modelos utilizados no Brasil e as dificuldades trazidas tanto pelos modelos quanto pelo ambiente de negócios brasileiro. A conclusão principal é a de que as empresas brasileiras utilizam modelos difusos, em geral incoerentes, e às vezes conflitantes. Além disso, as maiores dificuldades que a pesquisa revelou para o corporate venturing no Brasil são a alta volatilidade macroeconômica, a falta de competências empreendedoras dos gestores de grandes empresas, a baixa qualidade dos planos de negócio que chegam às unidades de corporate venturing e um mercado de capitais fraco quando comparado aos de países desenvolvidos. Por fim, o estudo revela novas hipóteses sobre as estratégias e as estruturas das unidades de corporate venturing que podem ser investigadas em pesquisas posteriores.

This study was developed to investigate as deep as possible the universe of the mature companies that use Corporate Venturing activities in their quest for new businesses in Brazil. Executives from Brazilian and foreign corporations were interviewed, revealing successful and unsuccessful experiences. The study of these cases, under the light of similar research conducted in throughout the world with the same criteria, provided a better understanding of the model utilized in Brazil and the difficulties imposed by the model themselves as well as by the Brazilian business environment. The main conclusion is that Brazilian companies utilize diffuse models, usually not coherent, and sometimes conflicting. Beyond, the most important difficulties to the Brazilian Corporate Venturing that the research revealed are the high volatility of the macroeconomic conditions, the lack of entrepreneurial competencies in the parent companys management, low quality of the incoming business plans, and a weak capital market when compared to those of the developed countries. Lastly, the study reveals new hypotheses about strategies and structures for the Corporate Venturing units that can be investigated by further research.
