Abstract in English
Bolted connections are often used to join cold formed steel purlins segments in multiple span roofing systems. The bolt-hole clearances and bolt-tightening of the connection devices are fabrication and assemblage practices for these structural elements. However, the bolt-tightening influence of the connection is a slight explored variable in the literature and it is relevant for the structural behavior of roofing systems. This study deals with cold-formed steel purlins with stiffened "Z" profile which are continuous in the support regions by sleeve or overlap. The influence of the connection bolt-tightening was investigated through tests and numerical strategies available in the commercial finite element software Abaqus. The analysis showed a significant variation in the connection rigidity and resistance with the change in their initial bolt-tightening. The experimental and numerical strategies proposed in this research provided a better understanding of the structural behavior of these bolted connections. The numerical strategies made possible the extraction of parameters required by simplified beam-spring models proposed in the literature, enabling the practical and safe analysis of these hyperestatic roof systems.
