Abstract in English
Four bacterial samples involved in MIC (microbiological induced corrosion) were studied. These samples, FW1, FW2, SW1 and SW2, were supplied by the Petrobrás (Brazilian Petroleum Industry) and they were previously enriched in a specific culture medium by the research center (Cenpes/Petrobrás). These samples were cultivated and isolated under anaeróbio conditions. Pure cultures were isolated, ali of them belonging to the Sulfate Reducing Bactéria group (SRB). Morphological and physiological assays were carried out, allowing the bactérias identification by comparison with the literature. It was concluded that FW1 belongs to Desulfotomactihim halophílum; FW2 to Desulfovibrio desulfuricans; SW2 to Desulfobacterium sp and SW1 to Desulfovibrio salexigens or Destilfovibrio destdfuricans. Growth kinetic studies ofthe SW1 strain were carried out with and without shaking. During growth in lactate (40 mM) and sulfate (37mM), under shaking, the maximum specific growth rate (max) and the generation time (Tg) were 0,28d-1 and 2,47 d, respectively. In this condition, the rates of sulfate and lactate utilization were 27% and 83%. respectively. while the production rates of sulfide and acetic acid were 275 mg/L and 552 mg/L; respectívely. When the kinetic study was carried out without shaking, the values ofthe kinetic parameters max and Tg were 0,13-1 and 5,33 d. In this latter condition the utilization rates of sulfate and lactate were 13% and 55%. respectively and tfae production rates of sulfide and acetic acid were 121 mg/L and 274 mg/L. respectively. The possible metabolic reactíons carried out by SW1 were: 3 lactic acid + l sulfate > 1 acetic acid + 1 sulfide (under shaking) / 2 lactic acid + 1 sulfate > 1 acetic acid + 1 sulfide (no shaking)
