Abstract in English
Cavitation is a serious problem for both machines and hydraulic facilities; therefore, studies must be made for the development of new methodology, which would allow its detection, and also the reduction of its effects. The majority of manufacturers' leaflets about curves of pumps shows values for positive outflows, but many times it is necessary to know how they work in different situations from those originally dealt. Although the subject has been discussed lately, there is still little research in the área, what indicates that there are many aspects to be studied due to the complexity of the cavitation phenomenon in liquids. The present work deals with the determination of the cavitation curve of a centrifugal pump installed in a way that the water flow comes into it through its outlet and goes out through its suction, i. e., the pump was tested with negative outflows. in this work, tests were made for different outflows and rotation, finally arriving at the curves of NPSH as a function of the outflow.
