Keywords in Portuguese
controle da eutrofização
florações algais
precipitação de fósforo
sulfato de alumínio

Abstract in English
The technique of phosphorus precipitation-inactivation by using aluminum salts is a methodology which is being employed in the processes of phytoplankton blooms control of eutrophied lakes, in many countries. This technique consists in the phosphorus remova! from the water column and in its release contrai from the sediments, in accordance of as verified in this research. The precipitation essays, for phosphorus remova!, has been dane through tests in the laboratory by using the equipment Jar-Test, comparing different quantities of alum (Al2(S04)318H20) in different pH values for obtaining the relation of this variable with the efficiency of phosphorus precipitation. The subsequent application of this salt in an environment with high phytoplankton biomass has been studied in a eutrophied aquarium with 50 liters capacity. In this way, it has been possible to get a better knowledge about the processes of phosphorus precipitation-inactivation and to search guidelines for future calculations of the appropriate quantities to be employed in the restoration of eutrophied lakes and reservoirs.
