Abstract in Portuguese
No Broa predominou a forma orgânica.

Sedimentation and vertical nutrient fluxes in to reservoirs of different trophic level (Broa and Barra Bonita reservoirs - SP)

Abstract in English
Sedimentation rates of total solids, organic matter, inorganic matter, chiorophyil a, nitrogen, phosphorus, phosphorus fractions (NH4Cl-RP, BD-RP, BD-NRP, NaOH RP, NaOH-NRP e HCl-RP) and metals (Ca, Mn, Fe e Al), were determined by means of sediment traps, in two reservoirs (Broa and Barra Bonita), located in São Paulo State. Six samplings were carried out in each reservoir. The pH, conductivity, temperawure, and dissolved oxygen were in sifu measured during the sediment traps deployment (48 hrs). Water samples for the determination of chlorophyil @, particulate nitrogen, total phosphorus, total dissolved phosphores and metals were also taken. Sediment samples of each reservoir, were analyzed for the determination of water content, organic mater, nitrogen, phosphorus phosphorus fractions and metals. The sedimentation rates corrected for resuspension were similer in both reservoirs 3.0 and 3.8gm-²day-¹(Broa e Barra Bonita, respectively). Broa's chlorophyll a, nitrogen and phosphorus sedimentation rates were: 5.8, 118 and 7 mg m-²day-¹,respectively. Barra Bonita's sedimentation rates were 3.6, 163 e 8 mgm-²day-¹(Cla, N, P, respectively). Sedimentary material composition, collected in the traps and in the sediments, were different for the studied reservoirs. Organic fraction was predommant at Broa. The organic fraction could be important for the vertical flux control of nutrients, speciaily for phosphorus (BD-NRP and NaOH-NRP). Inorganic fraction was predominant at Barra Bonita and could be the predominant carrier phase for phosphorus (BD-RF) in this reservoir. The different composition was related to the watersheds and trophic state differences between the reservoirs. Fiscal, chemical and biclogical process were determined by extemais factors (rain, discharge, residens time and wind), with similar effects in the two reservoirs.
