O brincar é essencial ao desenvolvimento infantil e sua avaliação é considerada apropriada para indicar o estágio do desenvolvimento no qual a criança se encontra e apontar possíveis defasagens. A Escala Lúdica Pré-Escolar de Knox - revisada (ELPKr) fornece uma descrição evolutiva do comportamento lúdico típico de crianças pré-escolares, em períodos de seis meses do zero aos três anos de idade e em períodos anuais até os seis anos de idade, em quatro domínios: espacial, material, faz de conta/jogo simbólico e participação. Esta Escala já passou pelo processo de adaptação cultural e pré-teste para uso na população brasileira. O presente trabalho teve por objetivos verificar a confiabilidade (concordância intra e interexaminadores e consistência interna), realizar a validação de conteúdo da versão brasileira da ELPKr e adequar este instrumento para a prática clínica. Participaram deste estudo 135 crianças com idade entre 0 a 72 meses, sendo 15 de cada uma das faixas etárias, as quais foram filmadas durante o brincar livre em escolas ou em seus domicílios. Dois examinadores independentes avaliaram as filmagens em dois momentos distintos. A partir dessas avaliações, foi realizada análise estatística buscando-se averiguar a concordância intra e interexaminadores e a consistência interna da versão brasileira da ELPKr, utilizando-se o coeficiente kappa de Cohen e o coeficiente alfa de Cronbach, respectivamente. Os itens da Escala em que não se obteve valores estatísticos satisfatórios foram readequados e submetidos à apreciação de um Comitê de Especialistas, composto por 10 terapeutas ocupacionais, com diferentes tempos de experiência de atuação com a população infantil. Este Comitê julgou se as mudanças nos itens da Escala foram satisfatórias para a total compreensão pelos avaliadores, concluindo assim a validação de conteúdo. De forma geral, a análise estatística intraexaminadores encontrou em sua maioria concordâncias quase perfeitas (23,6%), substanciais (30,6%) e moderadas, enquanto que a análise interexaminadores encontrada foi, em sua maioria, moderada (27,8%) ou razoável (38,9%). A consistência interna ficou dividida em resultados satisfatórios (55,5%) e não satisfatórios (44,4%). Embora não esteja ainda concluído o processo de validação da versão brasileira da ELPKr, acredita-se que o instrumento resultante deste trabalho esteja aprimorado, e que as adequações do Comitê tenham contribuído para deixar o instrumento mais acessível à prática clínica. Por ter diminuído o número de itens e tê-los deixados mais claros, a Escala poderá ser aplicada de forma mais rápida e condizente com as necessidades dos profissionais em contextos clínicos

Playing is essential in children's development, and its evaluation is considered relevant to indicate the stage of development of the child and it could indicate possible development discrepancies. The Revised Knox Preschool Play Scale (RKPPS) provides an evolving description of a typical playing behavior in preschool children in the period of six months in ages from 0 to 3 years old and in annual periods with up to 6 year-old children, in four aspects: space management; material management; pretense/symbolic and participation. The RKPPS has already undergone the process of cultural adaptation and pre-testing to be used in the Brazilian population. The aim of this study is to verify the intra and inter-rater examiners reliability and internal consistency of the RKPPS for Brazilian children; to fulfill the content validation of this instrument and to adapt it to clinical practising. In this study 135 children aged 0 to 72 months took participation and were divided into different age groups of 15 children each. The children were filmed during free-style playing either in their schools or home. There were two independent examiners who assessed the filming in two different instances. A statistical analysis based on these evaluations was carried out to ensure the intrarater and inter-rater reliability (using Cohen's kappa coefficient) and the internal consistency (using Cronbach's alpha coefficient) of the Brazilian version of the RKPPS. The Scale items in which no satisfactory statistical values were obtained were adjusted and submitted to an Expert Committee of 10 occupational therapists, with different expertise time in working with children. This Committee judged whether the changes in the Scale items were satisfactory for the broader comprehension by the examiners, thus concluding the content validation. In an overall analysis, the intra-rater statistic found a perfect agreement (23.6%); substantial (30.6%) and moderate agreement, whereas the inter-rater analysis found was mostly moderate (27.8%) or reasonable (38.9%). The internal consistency was divided into satisfactory (55.5%) and not satisfactory (44.4%) results. To sum up, the statistical analysis have indicated satisfactory results in intra-rater reliability, while the inter-rater reliability found was mostly moderate or reasonable. The results of the internal consistency were divided into satisfactory and non-satisfactory. Even though the validation process of the Brazilian version of ELPKr is still not complete, we believe the instrument resulted from this research could be improved and the contributions of the Expert committees will help to make some adjustments to clinical practising. The number of items were lowered in order to make them clearer and the Scale could be applied in a more straightforward way and according to professional's needs to clinical contexts
