Abstract in English
Introduction: The stroke is the second leading cause of death in Brazil that often occurs due to the neglect of health and increased risk factors such as hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus beyond lifestyle. Purpose: To compare history of life, health and habits among adults considered healthy (GC) and affected persons (GE) by the stroke on appropriate conditions and inadequate sex, race and age and test the instrument. Methods: study consisted of 144 participants, 72 from each group (CG and SG) to pair the same as the age, sex and race. The gathering took place in Hospital João Paulo II, Center of the Municipal Health Elderly, Wesleyan Methodist Church and Plaza Aluísio Ferreira. It used the questionnaire with questions such self with scores 0 to 4 (0-none, 1-very little, 2-medium, 3-lot, four extremely). Results: They obtained the worst Averages for the GE tachycardia (GE 1.89, 0.79 GC), tingling (GE 2.00, 0.83 GC), diabetes (GE 2.36, 0.92 GC), hypertension (GE 6 14, GC 2.25), heart problems (GE 2.06, 0.72 GC), suspected stroke by the physician (GE 6.83, 0.53 GC), smoking (1.01 GE, GC 0 , 33), soda consumption (GE 1.75, 1.19 GC), presence of increased levels of cholesterol / triglycerides / glucose (GE 1.40, 0.82 GC), using some type of medication (GE 2 97, GC 0.97) and family history of stroke (GE 3.58, 2.44 GC), which are considered risk factors for stroke. A sedentary lifestyle was higher in GC (GC 1.92, 0.56 GE). For the right conditions issues, the worst results were the GE as the knowledge of stroke (3.17 GE, GC 2.65), presence of proper diet (GE 3.08, 2.69 GC), consumption of juices (GE 1.88, 1.43 GC), regular physical activity (GE 3.39, 2.31 GC), have fitness (GE 2.74, 2.29 GC) and sportswear (GE 3.92 and GC 2.75). The worst averages GC just as the regular healthy diet (GC 1.93, 1.51 GE) and search for healthy habits regarding lifestyle and food (GC 2.08, 1.57 GE). Males had a higher average score (89.11, p = 0.036) between the sexes for the GE and GC whites had a higher average score (70.17, p = 0.011) with no correlation between age and the score Total between groups. To test the instrument, he found himself cut-off point of 68 with a sensitivity of 83.8% and specificity of 68%. Conclusion: The sedentary lifestyle worst score for GC; presence of tachycardia history, tingling, diabetes, hypertension, heart problems, suspected stroke, smoking, abnormal levels of cholesterol / triglycerides / glucose consumption of soft drinks use of medicine and history familial stroke had worse results for GE and later this group showed worse results as the previous knowledge about stroke, have proper diet, frequency of consumption of juices, undertaking regular physical activity, fitness and often present in practice these sports can be aggravating factors to trigger the onset. Blacks GC showed the best results of the questionnaire and the female GE presented the best findings of the questionnaire. Scoring 68.0 of the instrument can be used to determine chances of developing stroke.
