Considera que o resumo documentário é uma importante ferramenta de representação e recuperação da informação armazenada em bancos de dados. Portanto, busca a melhor disponibilização das informações das peças teatrais para os usuários e leitores. Objetiva estudar as teorias no campo do resumo documentário, da Análise Documentária, do resumo literário e da análise do texto teatral, visando o desenvolvimento de um método para a elaboração de resumos de textos teatrais, avaliando que este tipo de texto possui uma estrutura complexa, diferenciada e que as normas técnicas, e as teorias sobre resumo documentário e literário não contemplam todas as especificidades deste tipo de texto. A metodologia adotada envolve a pesquisa bibliográfica e o estudo exploratório, com a análise de dados coletados de bases de dados de serviços de informação, sobre teatro, analisando os resumos de peças disponíveis nestas bases. Levanta, através de questionário qualitativo aplicado a grupos teatrais, as necessidades informacionais destes grupos quando pesquisam novos textos teatrais para encenar. Discute uma forma de analisar o texto teatral e propõe um método de elaboração de seus resumos, sob o ponto de vista da Análise Documentária, produzindo exemplos de resumos elaborados a partir deste método.

Considers that the documentary abstract is an important tool for the representation and retrieval of information stored in databases. Therefore, seeks the best way to provide information about plays for users and readers. Aims study theories in the field of the documentary abstract, the Documentary Analysis, the Literary Digest and the analysis of the theatrical text, to develop a method to elaborate abstracts of theatrical texts, showing that this kind of text has a complex structure, differentiated and technical standards, and that the theories of documentary and literary abstracts do not include all the specificities of this type of text. The methodology involves a biographical research and an exploratory study, with analysis of the data collected from information services databases about theater, analyzing the abstracts of the plays available in these bases. By means of a qualitative questionnaire, applied to theater groups, the informational needs of these groups, when they search for new theatrical text to stage, were identified. Discusses a way to analyze the theatrical text and proposes a method of preparing their abstracts from the point of view of the Documentary Analysis, producing examples of abstracts elaborated from according to the method hereto proposed.
