Abstract in English
The research contemplates the study of the baiana's costume, from its greatest allegorical representation, which is the baiana's carnival costume. The main objective is to study the costume of the baiana (in Carnival) as material and immaterial heritage of Brazilian culture, cultivated by black women, positioning them in their place of belonging. To deepen the social, cultural, aesthetic and anthropological issues related to this garment, the research rescues the elements of costumes and accessories used on the head, torso and limbs of the users. The investigation reveals how the insertion of the baiana in the carnival procession came about and how this tradition is suddenly threatened by religious fanaticism, while it breaks gender paradigms and accepts men dressed as baianas in the parade. The theoretical basis is supported by BOUCHER (2010), LODY (2015), CABRAL (2011), VIANA (2017), ALEXANDRE (2021) and LIGIÉRO (2011).
