Abstract in English
This research aims to identify, investigate and analyze, from a non-traditional musical notation, interpretative issues related to the choral production of the composer Lindembergue Cardoso (1939-1989). As part of the methodological procedures, we have reviewed documents as well as his bibliography in order to gather information of his choral production. We have come to a total of 81 choral pieces and, after visiting many collections in order to find the musical scores, including the Lindembergue Cardoso Memorial at Bahia Federal University, we identified 30 pieces which make use of new types of notation. This is what constitutes the corpus of our research. On the first two chapters we present the composer`s choral trajectory, and selected aspects of the 20th century international choral standards, highlighting the occurred changes from 1950, as well as the connection between those changes with Brazilian avant-garde, especially the Composer's Group of Bahia, of which L. Cardoso was a founder and member. The third chapter brings over the theoretical background on non-traditional musical notation applied to the analyzed pieces and displays tables containing all the non-traditional notation symbols found in this research, with their respective meanings. The fourth chapter is composed of a chronological index, in which all the works are commented on their structural, contextual and notational aspects. On the fifth chapter we focus on the vocal sonorities retreated in the works and present the account of the experience on the setting of the play Caleidoscópio Op. 40, along with the ECA-USP Choir, in which we performed as the assistant conductor. We have proposed a discussion, from the choral conductor point of view, about matters related to the interpretative experience for this kind of repertoire, such as: the way in which the chorister can read the musical scores with the new type of notation; how to build the connection between the interpreters and such a low familiar esthetic; and which the processes of preparation and rehearsal aiming the execution of experimental works.
