Abstract in English
This Master thesis aims to study the project of the 28th Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, given the need for a deeper understanding of its curatorship project. We sought to understand and analyze it in its entirety, which made it possible to relate the decisions presented by that edition with the political and economic context in which the institution found itself. From this understanding, it became possible to interpret the pretexts and strategies adopted by the curatorship, and to analyze the nature of the relationships between the works presented in that edition and the Bienal Pavilion exhibition space. This study aims to leverage contributions to the History of Exhibitions and the history of the Bienal de São Paulo itself, as well as stimulate discussions on the ways in which contemporary art and the exhibition space can dialogue and influence todays field of art and of exhibitions.
