Motores diesel

Abstract in English
A mathematical model f a typical injection system applied in high-speed diesel engines is developed in this work. The model, which takes into account the physical properties of the fuel and the physical and geometrical characteristics of the mechanical elements, simulates the dynamic behavior of the components while studying the pressure waves propagation in the injection line. The high pressure line is modelled with distributed parameters while the pump and injection components are modelled with lumped parameters. The differential equations, related to the dynamic behavior of the system, are integrated numerically. The method of characteristics is used to solve the wave equation in the injection line, using the boundary conditions obtained from the study of the dynamic behavior of pump and injector components. A set of routines were prepared to facilitate the interaction between the user and the computer program, which was developed to run on a personal computer. The results obtained by the simulation of a particular injection system are presented, and a qualitative comparison with experimental data available in the literature is made.
