O presente estudo visa a construção e o desenvolvimento de um novo equipamento gravítico. O funcionamento do equipamento foi avaliado através de ensaios de concentração de finos de carvão de Candiota - RS. Nestes ensaios foi verificada a influência das variáveis do processo, como; vazão e porcentagem de sólidos da alimentação, vazões de água da alimentação e de lavagem e a oscilação do equipamento. Os resultados deste estudo constatam a possibilidade de se concentrar os finos de carvão com descarte das cinzas e do enxofre pirítico, utilizando o concentrador MONTEIRO.

Abstract in English
This work deals with the erection and development of an inedit gravity equipment. Concentration tests were carried out using coal fines from Candiota-RS-Brazil in order to evaluate the equipment performance. In these experiments, the influence of the main process variables as flow rate, per cent solids, wash water flow rate and water flow rate in feed and equipment oscilation were verified. The results from this indicate the possibility of concentrating coal fines by rejecting the ashes and pyrite sulphur using the MONTEIRO concentrator.
