Abstract in English
This study aimed to compare the performance of two different binders, bentonite and Peridur, this an organic binder of commercial use, in the iron ore pellet structure. With this goal were studied three distinct samples of iron ore concentrate, from different Brazilian mines. Pellets made in a laboratory pelletizing disc were tested, the tests routine included simple compression of green, dried pellets and in 1350oC thermally treated pellets, wet-knock test, and shock temperature. From the obtained results it is possible to conclude that the application of additives (limestone and coal) enhance the resistance properties of the pellets and for each iron ore concentrate there is a binder that presents a better result.
