O conceito de efeito marginal como técnica analítica para o projeto de navios militares é investigado através do desenvolvimento de fatores de peso marginal para alguns parâmetros básicos do projeto de corvetas e fragatas. O conceito reside em que através de fatores de peso marginal é possível a estima da influência de sistemas sobre o deslocamento total do navio, sem a necessidade de estudos específicos. A validade da aplicação do conceito para avaliação do efeito total no deslocamento do navio é examinada em estudos de casos típicos, através da comparação com o efeito estimado por um modelo de síntese. A conclusão principal do estudo é que o conceito de peso marginal pode ser aplicado como um recurso de valor para a análise de sistemas alternativos e para a análise da influência de outros aspectos como, por exemplo, práticas de projeto.

The concepto f marginal effect as an analytical tool in naval ship design is investigated by the development of marginal weight fator for some basic design parameters of corvettes and frigates. The concept is that with marginal weight factos, it is possible to estimate the influence of shipboard systems on the full-load displacement without the need for a specific design study. The validity of utilizing the concept to predict the overall effect on a ship displacement is examined in tipicals case studies through comparison with effect predicated by a synthesis model. The main conclusion of the study is that the concepto f marginal weight can be Applied as a useful tool in the systems trade-off and in the analysis of the influence of others aspects as, for example, design practices.
