Este trabalho aborda o desenvolvimento de um modelo de simulação estocástica do Terminal de Contêineres do Porto de Santos. O modelo, convertido num programa de computador na linguagem G.P.S.S. General Purpose Simulation System, é aplicado a uma análise operacional do referido terminal de contêineres, através de simulações e sua operação. Os resultados desta análise operacional permitem, entre outras conclusões, verificar quais os tipos e números adequados dos equipamentos para estiva e movimentação de contêineres, o número de berços de atracação necessários e a adequabilidade da integração do terminal com o sistema de transporte terrestre complementar. A potencialidade da simulação estocástica, uma ferramenta raramente empregada no Brasil, é mostrada neste trabalho.

This study concerns the development of a model for stochastic simulation of the Port of Santos Container Terminal. This model, converted to a computer program using the G.P.S.S. General Purpose Simulation System language, is then Applied to operational analyses of the above container terminal. Several conclusions can be obtained from this of operational analysis, as the adequate number and types of container stowage and handling equipments, the necessary number of berths for ships and the adequability of the integration of the terminal with the inland transportation system. The potentiality of the stochastic simulation, a tool scarcely used in Brazil, in shown in this study.
