Keywords in Portuguese
Gás natural (Processos) - Brasil
GNL
Óleo e gás

Abstract in English
This dissertation presents recently developed technologies for LNG production in small and medium scale plants. It uses a Systems Engineering approach through a methodology to indicate the LNG production system that is more likely to be successful in meet users requisites considering the following necessities identified in the Brazilian energy context: development of remote natural gas fields, LNG offshore production, LNG production as strategic reserves along distribution and transportation piping and the use of LNG to supply natural gas as vehicle fuel. The liquefaction cycles based on expanders are the most probable choice to perform the functions to meet the necessities identified herein.
