Fracture analysis in complex fields of residual stress.

Abstract in English
This work presents a methodology that allows the analysis of the fracture considering the existence of a complex field of three-dimensional stresses at the crack tip in each instant related to its stage of growth. Such stresses are obtained by numerical-computational simulations, using the finite element method, the design conditions, such as thermal or residual stresses from a welding process, as well as the service conditions. This methodology is distinguished by allowing the residual stress field to be reformulated with the crack propagation without remeshing, allowing a more realistic evaluation of the phenomenon. The study has a deterministic character, despite the uncertainties and randomness of the various parameters involved, for example, the mechanical properties of the materials, the loads and the physical defects and the residual stresses. The literature review deals with the analysis of fracture, thermal and residual stresses analysis, such as mechanisms and failure modes, calculation of the stresses field around the crack derived from general loads, procedures for fracture analysis, stress analysis welded joints, among others. The methodology validation is carried out by comparing the results of the thermal distribution after the welding process, the resulting residual stresses and fracture analysis. Finally, the methodology for fracture analysis is applied in an example that considers the existence of a crack in the pressure vessel of the Angra 1 nuclear reactor, taking into account its design and service conditions.
