Abstract in English
A new passive control system for rotation of a HAWT (horizontal axis wind turbine) is modeled and analyzed. This system is modeled and analyzed based on the patent of Zachariadis (2015) and the SWRT model made by de NREL. The model was simulated using NRELs software called FAST adapted to the Simulink simulation environment. With the aim of evaluating the performance variation due to the aggregation of the new passive control system for rotation, other control system was disable for this instance. In this way it is possible to observe the direct effect of the new system. Other passive control systems such as stall and furling remain within the simulations in this work. The variations in the performance of the turbine are evaluated based on the variables of rotation speed, electrical power and displacements or oscillations of the rotor and the nacelle. The results show that it is possible to operate this turbine model under the exclusive action of passive control systems.
