Abstract in English
Cementitious materials present a fragile behavior, with low deformation capacity before rupture when subjected to tensile stresses. For this reason, technological alternatives such as fibers are used to overcome for these limitations. Steel fibers are already widely used and have a Brazilian standard for their specification. Glass fibers are another material traditionally used in reinforcing cementitious matrices, such as façade panels, known as GRC or GFRC. However, there are no Brazilian standards for these fibers' characterization. The publication of the European Model Code, fib Model Code 2010, presented a significant step for FRC technology with the introduction of guidance for design structural elements with fibers. The three-point bending test (3PBT) is the reference test for parameters to the FRC design, but the use of other tests is allowed if appropriately correlated with the reference test. In this context, this work aims to study methodologies for the characterization and technological control of concrete with glass macrofibers for structural application. For this, the study was divided into three stages, the first focused on the macrofiber characterization, with the development of a methodology to perform the tensile test directly on the fiber. The second stage studies the post-cracking behavior of FRC using 3PBT (EN 14651) and double punch test (DPT), also known as Barcelona test (UNE 83515). The third step is dedicated to produce experimental correlations between 3PBT e DPT and the evaluation of equations proposed in the literature. The results showed the feasibility of the tensile test to be performed directly on the glass macrofiber. The correlation between the results of the 3PBT and DPT was confirmed with experimental correlations and application of the equation proposed in the literature, confirming the DPT as a possible alternative for the FRC systematic technological control.
