Abstract in English
The aim of this study was to investigate the choice made by adolescents at physical education high school classes in relation to walking, running and indoor soccer activities. These activities where organized in four main themes: social, game-like, competition and fitness. Participants were high school 1st, 2nd and 3th grade students (N = 271), of both genders, aged between 15 e 23 years. This research was conducted at a public state school of São Paulo, as part of regular physical education classes. For each grade fifteen classes were carried out: three introductory classes, (one for each activity), three for conclusion (one for each activity) and three in which the choice was possible. The dependent variable was choice quantity on each theme (social, competition, game-like and fitness) at walking, running and indoor soccer activities. Trend Analysis and Multiple Comparisons of PEPI software was used for data treatment. Results made it possible to conclude that: (a) school level and age influenced the choices made by adolescent students of both genders in relation to running and indoor soccer. Concerning walking, girls were influenced by school level and boys by age; (b) girls choose social theme more frequently, but in relation to indoor soccer those choices were associated to fitness theme; (c) for boys, competition was the most chosen theme. Nevertheless, those choices were associated to that one of game-like theme on walking and indoor soccer activities; and (d) fitness theme were the least chosen by adolescent students of both genders in relation to walking and running. In the case of indoor soccer this only happened for the boys
