Slope Mass Rating
Abstract in English
Slope Mass Rating (SMR) and Q-slope are empirical methods of projects that have been implemented in slope stability evaluation and assessment aids in rock masses. A correlation between those methods would allow a broad multiparametric analysis of rock slope study. The objective of this work was to apply and verify the existence of a correlation, quantitatively and conceptually, between these two methods. For that, the data were collected through scanlines and kinematic analyzes performed on slopes in the Vau Novo pit, located in the municipality of Santana do Parnaíba, in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. Conceptually, the methods present divergences in the approach to the stability classification of the rock mass, which reflects the differences between the results obtained by the methods. In spite of this, quantitatively, the indexes are correlated. Considering the differences between the methods concepts, the present study propose a regression analysis between the values of SMR and the ratio between 'beta' (Q-slope) and the real angle of the sampled slope.
