Abstract in English
The Coastal Cordillera, geomorphological feature of the Chilean coast, comprises metabasites and metasedimentary rocks that are considered to be the embasement of Chile. In the early 1970's these rocks were studied and then defined as a paired metamorphic belt, whose type area is located between the towns of Pichilemu and Licantén in central Chile. Currently, it is believed that these rocks characterize the accretionary wedge of the pre- Andean subduction complex, subdivided into Western and Eastern series. Western Series constitutes a belt facies metamorphic high-pressure, while the Eastern series would have been generated under low pressure. The integrated analysis of field observations, P-T-t paths and geochemical data provided an understanding of certain aspects of the tectono-metamorphic evolution of the area. The Western Series consists of metabasites, metachert, albite mica schists, quartzites and garnet mica schists that have layers with different orientations, sometimes NE-SW NW-SE due to deformation during basal accretion. The Eastern Series consists of phyllites, mica schists, muscovite-biotite schists and muscovite-biotite schists with andalusite and staurolite, and it is highlighted the absence of rocks of igneous origin. The rocks that keep best evidence of its trajectory P-T-t are metabasites; preserved by minerals (e.g glaucophane), and the definition of pressures and temperatures through the use of different softwares. Temperatures values of 620 '+ OU -' 50 °C and pressures of 13.4 '+ OU -' 0.5 kbar for the metamorphic peak, which would represent a transition between eclogite and amphibolite facies. During this phase, it is developed a mylonitic foliation, which represents the Sn to the rocks of the entire Western Series, which it is related to the tectonic chipping. The retro-metamorphism has occurred in conditions of PT green schist facies. The Eastern Series cannot be described in detail because of its high degree of weathering, but there is evidence that the conditions of metamorphism of this series do not correspond to that described in the literature. It was possible to observe an early brittle shear which resulted in the emplacement of andesite dikes and generation / reactivation of faults, such as Pichilemu Shear Zone.
