Abstract in English
The Dom Feliciano Belt is a geological unit originated in the Neoproterozoic during the Brasiliano Cycle. It occupies the entire southern-eastern region of Brazil and Uruguay. It presents a preferential NNE-SSW orientation parallel to the Atlantic coast and can be divided into three distinct domains separated by large shear zones interpreted as major regional sutures. The segments are: External Domain (foreland basins), Central Domain (supra-crustal rocks) and Internal Domain (magmatic rocks of several arcs). The magmatism that occurs in the Internal Domain extends for 1200 km and is formed by three associations of granitoids: Aiguá Batholith, Pelotas Batholith and Florianópolis Batholith the latter restricted to Santa Catarina. The Florianópolis Batholith can be divided into four units: Águas Mornas Suite, São Pedro de Alcântara Suite, Pedras Grandes Suite and Cambirela Suite. The Island of Santa Catarina state presents many outcrops of these units which are the targets of the current study. The granitoids represent a high K-calcium and alkaline magmatism and are interpreted as the roots of a mature magmatic arc. On the Island, the Granitic Association Santinho is the oldest unit formed by an interaction between bandaded gneiss and granite rocks (Morro das Aranhas Granite) both with tonalite enclaves. The hornblende biotite granite belonging to São Pedro de Alcântara occurs in a restricted way. The Granite Island is the predominant facies and belongs to Pedras Grandes Suite. The acidic volcanism of the Cambirela Suite occurs in the form of flows in the southern region of the Island or dikes cutting all other units. Associated with this unit occur sub-volcanic facies aka Itacurubi Granite. All units are affected by late imaging hydrothermal events. The São Pedro de Alcântara Suite rocks have SiO2 content of 67% wt and CaO 2.5% wt. The rocks of the Pedras Grandes Suite and Cambirela Suite have a high SiO2 contents higher than 70% wt and CaO 0.5 - 1.7% wt. The U-Pb zircon geochronological data indicate ages varying between 605 - 625 My for the rocks of the Santinho Granitic Association; 585 - 595 My for the granites of the São Pedro de Alcântara Suite; 585 - 600 My to the Pedras Grandes Suite; 575 My for the Cambirela Rhyolite's flows. The values of 87Sr / 86Sr (i) is about 0.711. The signatures obtained by the Sm-Nd method in bulk rock indicate crustal signatures. The TDMNd model ages for the São Pedro de Alcântara Suite are approximately 1400 My. For the other locations, the values range from 1550 - 1900 My. Both suggest a high crustal residence period. Pb-Pb signatures in total rock show a contribution of superior crust in the generation of these granitoids. No mantle signatures were found in this rocks, the values of ?Hf are all negative for the whole set. They vary between -0.07 and -28.43, indicating crustal origins. The values of the TDMHf models ages vary between 1471 - 3270 My indicating melting of old crusts. Petrogenetic studies point that those units have different genesis and different sources. The main mechanism of magma generate for these rocks is the crustal reworking of materials extracted at medium and deep levels of crust. Regionally the studies indicate that the granites of the Island of Santa Catarina, and consequently of Florianópolis Batholith, are distinct from the other granite rocks of the Santa Catarina shield. An integrated approach to isotopic methods confirms the affinity between this rocks with the Pelotas Batholith.
