Abstract in English
Localisation is a fundamental problem in mobile computing. Obtaining trustworthy position estimates is essential for navigating, performing tasks, presenting relevant contextual information etc. In this work, we present a solution to localisation using Wi-Fi network signals, based on native Bayesian classifiers. Our research focuses on locating users carrying mobile devices such as notebooks, tablets and mobile phones. The growing number of such devices already equipped with Wi-Fi antennas drives the use of these signals as a basis for localisation. The solution is described in detail, and a number of experiments are carried out with data acquired for this purpose. The results of these experiments are set against those of other research in the area. We show that the location estimate obtained with our solution has quality comparable, and often superior, to that of those obtained by other authors.
