Abstract in English
This work consists, essentially, in the use of the configuration interaction (CI) method for the calculation of very accurate potential energy curves and dipole moment functions, and then their use in the comprehension of spectroscopic properties of diatomic molecules. The CH+ ion molecule, in particular, was chosen as the system to be studied. An extensive study was carried out for the choice of reference configurations, for the excitation process, and for the construction of the molecular orbitals (MO's). In the absence of an SCF-HFR program that uses Slater type functions in the construction of the molecular orbitals, use was made of SCF-HFR results described in the literature. Since these papers only report the occupied orbitals, three different procedures have been studied for the construction of the virtual set. The best energies were calculated with a CI wavefunctions with 2116 terms which were generated from a molecular orbital set consisting of 20σ-10π - , and 3δ-type functions, and as single and double excitations relative to a set with four reference configurations (1σ222, 1σ223σ4σ, 1σ222, 1σ221π+ 1π_). These functions have been used to study the first three electronic states of 1∑+ symmetry. Using the potential curve and the dipole moment function calculated for the ground electronic state, the only bound one, we have calculated and compared with experimental and other theoretical data the following spectroscopic properties: vibrational levels, spectroscopic constants, averaged dipole moments for all vibrational levels, radiative transition probabilities for emission and absorption, and radiative lifetimes.
