Abstract in English
Investigates narratives of six year-old children to analyze pre-scholar language patterns and the influence of an intervention on the modification of this language. The narratives were collected during four individual meetings with six children, colleagues from the central nursery of the University of São Paulo, when reproducing a story and playing a symbolic game. The narratives were produced in different situations concerning the aspect of adult intervention. On the situation of less intervention, it was suggested to the child to reproduce the story told or to make up a story from his own game; on the situation of stronger intervention, the children were taught about the aspects of verbal comprehension. On both situations it was considered, on Piaget`s perspective, the child`s language related to aspects of global and verbal comprehension and the simbolic play. The results were studied on quantitative and qualitative basis through the categories of convencional narrative structure, as Rojo (1996), through the language categories used by the child, as Piaget (1923;1993) has defined, and through the symbolic plays categories, as Piaget (1978). Discusses the contribution of the different contexts and of the intervention to pre-scholar children understanding. Suggests child`s language and play observation procedures as prevention from learning problems and alternatives to teaching methods that matches with pre-scholar needs.
