Abstract in English
High functioning autism belongs to autistic spectrum disorder, characterized by deficits in three areas: social interaction, language deficits and restricted/stereotyped interests. Quality of life (QoL) is a complex concept that encompasses different aspects of life. Traditionally adults have been self-determining the child´s responses on their quality of life, there is a lack of instruments designed to evaluate this, complicating the assessment of the child. In pediatrics there is a debate about who would be the appropriate informant to evaluate the QoL of the children, making it important to analyze the correlation between the answers of children and adults, as sometimes the child may be unable to respond to the questionnaire. The aim of this work was to evaluate the QoL of children with high functioning autism, analyzing the level of agreement between child, family and educator, as well as, to analyze the sensitivity of the questionnaire used when answered by others. A sample of 30 children aged 4 to 12 with high functioning autism were studied, as well as, 30 relatives and 24 educators (as 6 of them did not accept to participate in the research) of the respective children. As an evaluation instrument, the Autoquestionnaire qualité de vie enfant image AUQEI (for children) was used and an adaptation made so that the adults could answer it, preserving the original format, adapting the questions to the third person, an adapted AUQEI. In addition, the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales were used and, the Scale of Autistic Traits (ATA). The results show good consistency in the responses of the three groups analyzed. All the children had a satisfactory index of QoL. Statistically significant differences were found in 4 questions. Thus, the AUQEI demonstrated good sensitivity for assessing the QoL through third parties. When you think of children as unable to answer a questionnaire about QoL, it becomes evident the need to make or validate existing instruments. In the results, it is distinguished that the evaluated children are able to provide information about themselves, on their quality of life and what makes them happy. This data are important to structure services that work with this population
