O psicossoma é o eu corporal na interação entre os processos do corpo e da psique e pode se comportar como uma interface. Nele, fatores psicológicos e somáticos interagem como um todo, por meio de processos homeostáticos de regulação e de desenvolvimento. A homeostase, por sua vez, é o background cooperativo comum das regulações interligadas entre o corpo, o cérebro e a mente e destes com o ambiente físico, social e cultural. Nesses processos de regulação e de equilíbrio fisiopsicológico do organismo como um todo, as crenças nucleares são capazes de atribuir realidade às percepções, emoções e pensamentos. Logo, elas estão envolvidas com a busca de equilíbrio entre o self e o ambiente, em dinâmicas cognitivas e afetivas de aprendizagem e sobrevivência. Nesses processos interativos, também estão presentes as emoções e os sentimentos. Os sentimentos funcionam como indicadores naturais da qualidade dos estados somáticos e dos vínculos intrassubjetivos e intersubjetivos. Essas experiências vinculares, por sua vez, dão gênese aos modelos operacionais a partir dos quais os estilos de apego e os estilos coping religioso se constituem como tentativas de regulação cognitiva e emocional. Os padrões de vinculação, dessa forma, com uma figura de apego específica, ou com uma figura de apego espiritual/religiosa, no caso do coping religioso, provavelmente são, ambos, indicadores da qualidade do psicossoma e de suas regulações. Temos evidências, portanto, de que os vínculos de apego, tanto seguros como inseguros, podem influenciar a percepção somática do sujeito e o estilo de coping religioso, positivo ou negativo.

The psychosome is the bodily self in interaction between the processes of the body and the psyche and can behave as an interface. In it, psychological and somatic factors interact through homeostatic processes of regulation and development. Homeostasis, in turn, is the common cooperative background of the inter-regulations between the body, the brain and the mind and of these with the physical, social and cultural environment. In these processes of regulation and physio psychological balance of the organism as a whole, core beliefs are processes of attributing reality to perceptions, emotions and thoughts. They are involved with the search for balance between the self and the environment, in cognitive and affective dynamics of learning and survival. In these interactive processes, emotions and feelings are also present. Feelings function as natural indicators of the quality of somatic states and intrasubjective and intersubjective bonds. These linking experiences, in turn, give rise to the operational models from which attachment styles and religious coping styles constitute themselves as attempts at cognitive and emotional regulation. Thus, attachment patterns, with a specific attachment figure, or with a spiritual/religious attachment figure, in the case of religious coping, are probably both indicators of the quality of the psychosome and its regulations. Therefore, we have evidence that attachment bonds, both secure and insecure, can influence the somatic perception of the subject and the style of religious coping, positive or negative.
