Qual o entendimento a respeito do campo da neuroética e quão amplo se apresenta no Brasil? Qual a abrangência do ensino de neuroética para viabilizar a formação e esclarecimentos sobre o tema que contribuam para a participação brasileira no cenário mundial de discussões? A partir desses questionamentos, refletiu-se sobre a importância em ter acesso ao debate sobre neuroética, ao que significa, a atual busca por definição, sua aplicação e como a política e a governança no uso das neurotecnologias podem impactar a sociedade brasileira. Historicamente, há vinte anos, o primeiro encontro de neuroética, tido como um marco inicial, expressou preocupação com os impactos éticos, sociais, jurídicos e filosóficos das neurociências. Vários países, institutos de pesquisa e instituições não governamentais, principalmente Estados Unidos, Canadá, Austrália e Comunidade Europeia iniciaram a revisão de seus códigos de bioética, e se empenharam para garantir amplas discussões sobre neuroética. No entanto, a América Latina e a África, ainda carentes de embasamento para as discussões no campo emergente, ficaram de fora com exceção de discreta participação de representante da Argentina e ainda não tiveram oportunidade de contribuir significativamente com sua perspectiva para as discussões globais sobre o tema. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo prospectar a abrangência dos estudos em neuroética no Brasil. O mapeamento do campo do ensino brasileiro de neuroética permitirá construir estratégias educacionais, divulgação e, sobretudo traçar as prioridades do país face a esta discussão e aplicação de políticas públicas, passando de espectador a ator no campo da neuroética. Como ponto de partida, buscou-se mapear a disseminação da discussão acadêmica em neuroética no Brasil. Por meio de busca via web nas duas principais instituições nacionais de fomento à pesquisa em produções acadêmicas da pós-graduação (CAPES e FAPESP), no período de 2002-2019, e no Diretório de Grupos de Pesquisa (CNPq), de 2002-2021, foram levantados trabalhos acadêmicos e grupos de estudo atuantes no tema. Além desses dados, informações sobre oferta de cursos e outros movimentos em torno do ensino da neuroética em universidades brasileiras. Constatou-se, a partir das informações disponíveis, que a produção acadêmica nacional no campo investigado é praticamente inexistente e que a ausência de literacia em neuroética resulta da falha em reconhecer a relevância dos impactos sociais das neurotecnologias por pesquisadores e pela sociedade. A implementação de formação inicial e continuada nessa área, entre profissionais em neurociências e sociedade, permitirá ao Brasil participar de forma ativa nas discussões relacionadas ao tema e na contribuição da diversidade cultural e valores sociais, que vêm sendo incentivados pelas associações internacionais de neuroética

What is the understanding of the field of neuroethics and how broad is it in Brazil? What is the scope of teaching neuroethics to enable training and clarification on the subject that contribute to Brazilian participation in the world scenario of discussions? Based on these questions, we reflected on the importance of having access to the debate on neuroethics, what it means, the current search for definition, its application and how policy and governance in the use of neurotechnologies can impact Brazilian society. Historically, twenty years ago, the first neuroethics meeting, taken as a starting point, expressed concern about the ethical, social, legal and philosophical impacts of neurosciences. Several countries, research institutes and non-governmental institutions, mainly the United States, Canada, Australia and the European Community, have started to review their codes of bioethics, and have endeavored to ensure broad discussions on neuroethics. However, Latin America and Africa, still lacking a basis for discussions in the emerging field, were left out with the exception of the discreet participation of a representative from Argentina and they have not yet had the opportunity to significantly contribute their perspective to global discussions about the subject. This research aims to explore the scope of neuroethics studies in Brazil. The mapping of the field of Brazilian teaching of neuroethics will make it possible to build educational strategies, dissemination and, above all, to outline the country's priorities in the face of this discussion and application of public policies, moving from spectator to actor in the field of neuroethics. As a starting point, we sought to map the dissemination of academic discussion on neuroethics in Brazil. Through a web search in the two main national institutions to promote research in postgraduate academic productions (CAPES and FAPESP), in the period 2002-2019, and in the Directory of Research Groups (CNPq), from 2002-2021, academic works and study groups active on the topic. In addition to these data, information on the offer of courses and other movements around the teaching of neuroethics in Brazilian universities. Based on the available information, it was found that the national academic production in the investigated field is practically non-existent and that the lack of literacy in neuroethics results from the failure to recognize the relevance of the social impacts of neurotechnologies by researchers and society. The implementation of initial and continuing training in this area, among professionals in neurosciences and society, will allow Brazil to participate actively in discussions related to the topic and in the contribution of cultural diversity and social values, which have been encouraged by international neuroethics associations
