Abstract in English
Over time and with greater speed in the late twentieth century, educational scenario were changing in an attempt to meet the new demands of the contemporary world, instigated by official propositions, especially after the announcement of the Law of Guidelines and Bases 9.394 / 96, where new curricular paradigms were put. In the case of the Physical Education curriculum discipline, the conversation with the humanities and the questioning of the critical theories started in the 1980s were amplified with the contributions of the post-critical theories, allowing new perspectives to pedagogical practice. Emerged then a new social purpose to the area, moving away from the understanding of corporal movement psychologically based and approaching to gestures culturally constructed filled with meanings, therefore, a form of language. It is in this context that the term corporal culture came to be conveyed in most of the official curriculum proposals designed by the States of the Federation, maybe carrying the impression of some consensus about its meaning and, consequently on the conception of Physical Education to be taught. The attempt to understand this consensus led us to investigate the meanings attributed to the term corporal culture present in the official curriculum proposals. Lined in the field of Cultural Studies and the theories of curriculum, the official documents were submitted to the analysis of the order of discourse. After compiling the results we can say that the discourses on corporal culture in states curriculum proposals of Physical Education in Brazil are always related to the attempt of the area and why not of the school in meeting the demands of the twenty-first century, and are as varied as possible, from suggesting transformation and qualification of teaching practice as well as keeping the continuity of the same proposition. The investigation has shown us that the appropriation and use of the term physical culture in the area of Physical Education should be made with some caution since there is not always accuracy about the concept of culture adopted. Another finding is the differences between theoretical foundation and didactic orientations present in some documents. Regarding content selected in some curricular proposals, it was found that the term corporal culture simply implies the development of sports, fighting, gymnastics and dance. Finally, the analyses show the need for greater understanding of the social function of Physical Education from the discussion with humanities so that there is an effectively transformation of the pedagogical practice .
