A congregação salesiana chegou em São Paulo em 1885 e assumiu a direção do Liceu Coração de Jesus, oferecendo o ensino primário e o profissional. Baseado no Sistema Preventivo de Dom Bosco, o Liceu se apresentou como um espaço de formação civil e cristã que ao longo dos anos foi se transformando. Sob o lema da congregação, Formar bons cristãos e honestos cidadãos, o estabelecimento ofereceu à cidade de São Paulo, nos seus primeiros 25 anos, uma formação que possibilitasse uma ocupação assalariada e a alfabetização, que lhe dava o direito a votar e consequentemente, os requisitos para ser considerado um cidadão. A religião era ensinada através dos ideais do catolicismo ultramontano, centralizando no clero romanizado as atividades da Igreja. O processo de escolarização do Liceu criava uma lógica educativa própria que possibilitava sua consolidação em São Paulo a partir de atividades que a sociedade considerasse como importantes. A fim de apreender essa lógica educativa, o presente trabalho volta-se às origens do Sistema Preventivo de Dom Bosco em Turim para entender seus objetivos iniciais e as razões em ser aplicado em São Paulo. Sua especificidade no Liceu é abordada com a construção de um tempo e espaço escolar próprio que permitem um ambiente de controle e valorização do trabalho. Estas ações escolares foram divulgadas pela própria congregação em jornais, fotos e correspondências com o propósito de afirmarem uma função para o Liceu e assim legitimarem sua participação na sociedade. Através desta análise, a pesquisa reflete sobre o discurso salesiano de importância do Liceu para a capital paulistana, propondo um olhar, distinto do de Manoel Isaú, que explique a aceitação do sistema preventivo pelos paulistanos nos seus primeiros 25 anos.

Salesianos had arrived in São Paulo at 1885 and assumed the direction of Liceu Coração de Jesus. The religions offered elementary and professional education. Based on Dom Bosco Preventive System, Liceu presented itself as a space of civilian and cristian formation that was changing itself along the time. With the lemma, Form good cristians and honesty citizans, the establishment offered to the city of São Paulo, in its first 25 years, one formation that made possible an employee occupation and an alphabetization. With those qualifications, the workers would have the right to vote and to be considered a citizen. The religion was taught through the Romanized Catholicism ideas, which defends a central power in the Vatican. The effect of Liceu schooling created a special educated logical, that was one of the responsible for the establishment consolidated in São Paulo. That happened through the activities that the society accepted and considered important. With the purpose to understand this educated logical, the research analyses the origin of Dom Bosco Preventive System in Turin and the reasons for come to São Paulo. The specific application in Liceu Coração de Jesus is treated with the construction of an own scholar time and a space, that allowed the control and the work valorization. Those scholar actions were divulgated by the salesians through newspapers, pictures and mails with the purpose to affirm one function to Liceu and legitimated its participation on the society. Through this analyze, the research reflect about the speech that the salesians constructed about their importance for the society. This point of view is different that the one writing by Manoel Isaú, a salesian that explicated the accepted of the Dom Bosco Prevent System in São Paulo during the firsts 25 years.
