Abstract in English
Frequently new dental implants with different topographies and surface treatments are being marketed in order to improve osseointegration and promote treatments with greater predictability. Aesthetic improvement has been a clinical reality and the use of zirconia for implant dentistry has become a frequent practice in the current oral rehabilitation scenario, however implant therapy could be compromised by peri-implantitis. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the microbiota associated with the biofilm formed on two types of implant surfaces (with or without hydrophilicity) associated with abutments of titanium or zirconia. The groups involved in the study were: (1) NTi(Implants with hydrophobic surface NeoPoros® + titanium abutment); (2) ATi (Implants with hydrophilic surface - Acqua® + titanium abutment); (3) NZn (Implants with hydrophobic surface NeoPoros® + zirconia abutment); (4) AZn (Implants with hydrophilic surface Acqua® + zirconia abutment), each group having 10 samples (n = 10). After the abutments were connected to the implants, they were contaminated for 7 days with human saliva and biofilm. At the end of the incubation period, samples of the biofilm formed on the surface of the implants and columns were collected from 7 samples to perform the genomic evaluation using the DNA-DNA Checkerboard hybridization method. Three implants from each group were used for surface evaluation through the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) technique. The normality test (Shapiro-Wilk) reported a non-normal distribution of data, and the analysis was performed in Generalized Linear Model. The multiple comparisons were performed with Bonferroni adjustment. For S. salivarius, two groups did not present microorganism counts and Mann-Whitney U test was applied. A significance level of 5% was considered. Forty-one microbial species were identified and quantified by the DNA Checkerboard technique. When analyzing the global contamination, that is, the total number of microorganisms detected in each group, it was possible to find that AZn> NTi> ATi> NZn. In general, the values between AZn and NTi; and AT 1 and P 2n are similar. However, the microbial profile showed to be a variable among the different groups. AZn presented the highest contamination rates among the studied groups. From the results found, it was possible to determine that the Acqua surfaces and ceramic abutments were responsible for a highest detection of microorganisms. The images obtained by scanning electron microscopy showed the adhesion of microorganisms on both the implant and abutment surfaces. Through this study, it was possible to conclude that the surfaces of implants and prosthetic abutments evaluated had different microorganisms and the AZn group showed a highest detection of microorganisms by the Checkerboard DNA technique
