Efeito do tempo de armazenamento sobre as propriedades físico-químicas do cimento endodôntico AH Plus

Abstract in English
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of storage time on the physico-chemical properties of endodontic sealer AH Plus. The chemical elements present in the first part of paste B were further evaluated by complementary tests. Flow and setting time tests were conducted in accordance with ANSI/ADA Specifications No 57. Solubility and dimensional change tests followed the modifications proposed by Carvalho-Júnior et al. (2007). Four sealers boxes were used (C1, C2, C3 and C4), which randomization was performed so that all sealers were used in all tests until the end of the experiment. The properties of setting time, flow, solubility and dimensional change were analyzed at four moments: once it was opened (T0) after 30 days of open (T30), after 90 days of open (T90) and after 360 days (T360). Data were analyzed by ANOVA one-way and Tukey tests (α=0,05). The average setting time was 515.10 ± 54.89 minutes. However, in T0, it exceeded the 10% established as maximum variation by ANSI / ADA (596.80 ± 7.05). T0 was statistically different (P≤0. 01) from T30, T90 and T360. The AH Plus flow complied with ANSI / ADA standards (≥20 mm). This property significantly decreased (P≤0.05) over time. Solubility did not exceed 3% of mass in the analysis period. Sealer expansion (0.94% ± 0.12), although decreasing over time, did not met ANSI / ADA specifications. In the initial sample of paste B, all components of this paste were present, but the predominance of silicone oil were detected. With the exception of dimensional change, the evaluated properties of AH Plus do not change during the 360 days of storage.
