Este trabalho pretendeu abordar o tema "Coleta e Transporte dos Resíduos Sólidos no Meio Urbano", principais responsáveis pela imagem da problemática dos resíduos sólidos perante a população e a administração pública. Apresentou-se a importância dos serviços de coleta e transporte em seus múltiplos aspectos, o processo de planejamento destes serviços e sua interdependência com o Sistema de Resíduos Sólidos, terminologia esta agregadora das funções relacionadas no trabalho. Após as colocações efetuadas concluiu-se que com as informações reunidas neste trabalho há melhores condições de que, principalmente os técnicos e administradores públicos possam planejar, programar, executar e avaliar a coleta e transporte dos resíduos sólidos no meio urbano.

The main objective of this paper is to study how solid wastes are collected and transported and its influence on the environment, since these two operations constitute, both for the population and for the public administration the origin of many of the problems ascribed to solid wastes. The multiple aspects of the services related to the collection and transportation of solid wastes are discussed, as well as how such services should be planned. The interdependence between these services and the other parts of the structure of the services of public cleansing are also studied. It is concluded that the this paper's multiple informations will help the public administration to plan, to programme, to execute and to evaluate the collection and transportation of solid wastes in urban communities.
