Elaboramos uma pesquisa descritiva, na qual a variável dependente é a percepção que o estudante tem sobre o professor de Enfermagem de Saúde Pública e a variável independente é o aluno, no fim do quarto ano de Enfermagem de Saúde PÚblica - nivel de graduação. Percepção foi usada neste estudo, significando um processo pelo qual o aluno interpreta a comunicação do professor. O instrumento de pesquisa, questionário, foi aplicado em setenta e sete estudantes (91,6 por cento da população), os quais selecionaram em cada escola os professores a serem percepcionados. Através de uma análise estatística, em termos quantitativos utilisando média e desvio padrão, e em termos qualitativos utilisando qui-quadrado de Cochran, qui-quadrado MacNemar e coeficiente de Yule, confirmamos - as quatro hipóteses formuladas, isto é: 1) foi possivel saber a percepção destes estudantes sobre os professores. 2) essa percepção foi discriminatória em relação às caracteristicas peculiares dos professores, 3) existe uma associação entre o conhecimento do professor sobre a matéria e o interesse no aluno por aprender, 4) os resultados de uma pesquisa como esta deverão ser utilizados quando é planejado o processo educativo. Mais resultados se encontraram simultaneamente pela associação de variáveis, sugerindo uma atitude favorável sobre a possibilidade dos estudantes de enfermagem em nivel de graduação darem a sua percepção sobre os seus professores. Finalnente, tentamos dar sugestões relacionadas com a utilização do instrumento de pesquisa, com as hipóteses e conclusões.

This is a descriptive survey, where the dependent variable is the perception the student has about the public health nursing teacher and the independent variable, is the nursing student in the end of the last year - undergraduate level. Perception was used in this study, meaning a process, where the student interprets the conmunication of the teacher. The research instrument was administred to seventy-seven students (91.6 percent of the population) with selected teachers in each school. Through statistical analysis, in quantitative terms, utilizing average and standard deviation, and in qualitative terms, utilizing chi-square of Cochran, chi-square of MacNemar and Yule's coefficient, we confirmed the four hypothesis, that is: 1) it was possible to know the perception of this nursing students about their teachers, 2) that perception could be descriminatory about peculiar characteristics of the teachers, 3) there was an association between the teacher knowledge about discipline and the interest created by the students to learn, 4) the findings of a research like this could be employed when the educative process is being planned. Other conclusions carne up through the association of variables, suggesting a favorable attitude toward nursing - undergraduate students, perceiving their teachers. Finally, we attempted to give the teachers, suggestions concerned with the use of the research instrument with the hypothesis and with the conclusions.
