Abstract in English
Introduction: The Zika virus emerged explosively and pandemic in Oceania and the Americas. Its effects affected, in particular, babies with varied signs and symptoms that culminated in the birth of a new syndrome never before registered. In this way, the babies affected and the modes of care directed to this population are born at the same time. In this sense, it is fundamental to understand the care relationships implied in this process backed up by the notion of public health care, composed of several elements such as social, occupational, economic, cultural and subjective aspects. The subjective aspect is revealed in the care that the subject offers that makes it possible to re-signify its subjectivity, attributing meanings to the lived experiences. Objective: To analyze the subjective dimension involved in the care offered by parents and health professionals to children with Zika congenital syndrome. Method: This is a qualitative research with caregivers that compose the environment of the baby with Zika congenital syndrome: parents and professionals of a specialized service in the city of Campina Grande in the state of Paraíba, Brazil, city with high prevalence of the disease. Two groups of subjects, one with parents and one with professionals, separately, participated in individual interviews and focus groups. We also performed the participant observation of these subjects included in the service activities. The data were submitted to the analysis of content and discourse articulated with the Winnicottian perspective. Results and discussion: Attention was characterized by the effort of the interdisciplinary action, search for horizontality built from the conception that 'the mosquito united us', resulting in close proximity between caregivers. The media and science have recorded nascent care, sometimes cooperating with information to parents and professionals, sometimes exposing them and reducing them to epidemiological reporting. Care produced and was produced by the modes of subjectivation of each caregiver involved, at the same time assumed similarities between mothers, fathers and professionals. Mothers-women carry the weight of the social representations of motherhood perceived as congenital, expressed by the centrality of care. In a scenario of maternal role, the presence of the father is almost absent in most families, but when there is, parents are very active in care. Such paternal actions are shaped by masculine logic, such as the emotional support directed at the woman, but the non-expression of one's own emotions, as well as activities predominant outside the home. Other caregivers with a prominent position were the professionals. Sensitized by the cause, the professionals surpass the actual execution of the work and act in favor of the families also in the personal sphere. Faced with intensities, without scientific resources, the main intervention of the team was love. Caregivers in general show intense feelings of joy for care seen as mission, fear of the future and sadness in the face of the stigmata that proliferate over the babies affected by SCZv. In the Zika context, letting oneself be affected proves to be contagious and exerts influence in the intense presence of the caregiver. Final Concerns: The surviving scenario, after an emergency situation, is the desire of the caregivers for the effective insertion of the infants in their community with assured rights. To think about the future of this population is to reflect on the effectiveness of the psychosocial support and the availability of all instances for a decent look at the babies and their caregivers. Although the outbreak has ended, as well as the media and scholarly spotlight, the stories and effects remain alive.
