A dor pode provocar consequências físicas e emocionais nos pacientes pediátricos. Nesse sentido, deve ser avaliada e tratada, levando em conta a faixa etária e o desenvolvimento cognitivo da criança. Para isso, é necessário que o enfermeiro conheça e saiba aplicar os instrumentos de avaliação da dor adequados. Os objetivos deste estudo foram: conhecer a experiência de enfermeiros na utilização dos Cartões de Qualidade da Dor em crianças com dor aguda e/ou crônica e/ou em cuidados paliativos e identificar as facilidades e dificuldades na utilização desses cartões. Para tanto, a pesquisa qualitativa ocorreu em três etapas: Etapa 1- Orientação dos participantes quanto ao uso dos cartões, Etapa 2- Aplicação do instrumento pelos enfermeiros, Etapa 3- Entrevista individual com os enfermeiros. Participaram da orientação 13 enfermeiros e nove foram entrevistados. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas que foram analisados, utilizando a orientação metodológica do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. Dois temas centrais foram desvelados a partir das respostas dos enfermeiros: FACILIDADES DOS ENFERMEIROS NA UTILIZAÇÃO DOS CARTÕES DE QUALIDADE DA DOR e DIFICULDADES DOS ENFERMEIROS NA UTILIZAÇÃO DOS CARTÕES DE QUALIDADE DA DOR. Ao enfrentar o desafio de utilizar os Cartões de Qualidade da Dor em sua prática profissional, os enfermeiros perceberam o impacto positivo dessa nova ferramenta no cuidado às crianças e adolescentes e suas mães. Essa experiência ampliou os horizontes para uma avaliação mais abrangente e eficaz da dor da criança. Como consequência o manejo e alívio da dor foram realizados a partir de intervenções não-medicamentosas. Por outro lado, o profissional enfrentou algumas dificuldades em razão da inexperiência no emprego dos instrumentos para avaliar da dor e, especialmente, pelo número pequeno de aplicações do instrumento. Além disso, o enfermeiro apresentou dificuldade em conversar com a criança sobre a dor. Os resultados deste estudo evidenciaram que a aplicação dos Cartões de Qualidade da Dor pode vir a ser uma estratégia para melhorar a interpretação da experiência de dor das crianças e adolescentes pelo enfermeiro, facilitando seu planejamento e sua tomada de decisões, bem como o acompanhamento da eficácia do tratamento da dor das crianças e adolescentes.

The pain can cause physical and emotional consequences in pediatric patients. This way, it should be evaluated and treated, taking into account the age line and cognitive development of the child. Therefore, it is necessary that the nurse knows and is able to apply the adequate instruments of pain evaluation. The goals of this study were: learn the experience of nurses in the utilization of the Pain Quality Cards in children with acute and/or chronic pain and/or hospice care and identify the easinesses and difficulties in the utilization of these cards by the health professionals. In order to do this, the qualitative research occurred in three stages: Stage 1- Orientation of the participators in the use of the Cards; Stage 2- Application of the Instrument by the nurses; Stage 3- individual interview with the nurses. Thirteen nurses participated in the orientation and nine were interviewed. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the methodological orientation of the Collective Subject Discourse. Two central themes were unveiled from the responses of the nurses: FACILITIES OF THE NURSES IN THE UTILIZATION OF PAIN QUALITY CARDS and DIFFICULTIES OF THE NURSES IN THE UTILIZATION OF THE PAIN QUALITY CARDS. When facing the challenge of utilizing the Pain Quality Cards, in their professional practice, the nurses realized the positive impact of this new tool in the care to the children/adolescents and their mothers. This experience amplified the horizons to a more embracing and effective evaluation of the childs pain. As a consequence the management and relief of the pain were made through non-pharmacological interventions. On the other hand, the professional faced some difficulties due to the inexperience in the utilization of instruments to evaluate the pain. Besides that, the nurse faced difficulties in talking about the pain with the children. The results of this study revealed that the application of the Pain Quality Cards may come to be a strategy to enhance the interpretation of the adolescents/childrens pain experience by the nurse, facilitating their planning and their decision making, as well as the monitoring of the effectiveness of the pain treatment of the children/adolescents.
