A tese apresenta um estudo analítico do tema das relações internacionais no âmbito da filosofia política moderna, entre os séculos XVI e XVIII, destacando-se seus temas recorrentes: a guerra e a paz. Analisam-se os pensadores políticos do Renascimento, em especial Maquiavel, e do jusnaturalismo moderno, em especial Kant.
